Fashion shopping in Amsterdam is an often overlooked activity specifically for this city. Sure, New York, Paris and London probably have a broader selection of luxury goods. But do they offer the same local atmosphere and friendly environment? We don’t think so.

 

De Bijenkorf

De Bijenkorf (“The Beehive”) is a large classy department store located right on Dam Square. The building itself wil marvel you with its majestic curves and proud flags. All the big brands have an in store in De Bijenkorf. This makes the place seriously fit for fashion shopping. These large classique stores include top fashion brands like Gucci, Marc Jacobs and Louis Vouitton. At the top floor of the building is a restaurant which offers a good amount of fresh food both warm and cold at a classy buffet.

Fashion shopping in the P.C. Hooftstraat

The most famous fashion shopping street in Amsterdam is the P.C. Hooftstraat. This is the street where the paparazzi lurks on the sidewalk watching the porches and bentleys roll by.

All big fashion brands have a specialized shop here. A couple of examples are Gucci, Cartier, Hugo Boss, DG, Valentino, BVLGARI, Louis Vuitton and Lacoste. There are more than 100 stores in the PC Hooftstraat.  Also interesting are the few Dutch fashion shops which cater to the local famous people.

The PC Hooftstraat is located in a very affluent neighborhood with beautiful architecture. Other streets such as the chique Van Baerlestraat and Beethovenstraat offer a few hidden gems as wel if you want to go fashion shopping. A must go for every fashionista!

 Maison de Bonneterie

Maison de Bonneterie is a large fashion department store on the Rokin. It is located in beautiful building. The department store was founded in 1889.

Maison de Bonneterie is a high end yet casual place, with brands like Hugo Boss, Marc Jacobs, Filippa K, Gant, Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger, Maison Scotch and Lacoste. You’ll also find some of those amazing Burlington socks there, with the signature copper button.

If you’re looking for great clothes during the weekend or on casual friday, this store has definitely got what you need. The Maison has large collections for men, women and children. More info here.
