Alternative to the straight forward 1 hour tour you have the hop-on hop-off canal cruise. These are canal boats that stop at important landmarks such as the Rijksmuseum and Anne Frank House. This is an excellent to move around in Amsterdam and see the sights at the same time.

A third option during the day is the canal bike. This is not only a cheap, but also a healthy way to navigate on Amsterdam’s famed waterways. Obviously you’ll have to power the bike yourself, so if you want to see all the sights it’s quite the ride.
